The GEISS Company established in 1948 were early to recognize the potential of this new material called "Plastic". And because of that insight quickly became a trend setter within the industry. In fact all competitive suppliers equipment have adopted features that were first developed by the Company GEISS AG.
Standard Work Height without a pit
First bottom Heater
First step less heater element control
First Microprocessor on this equipment
First Automatic Sheet-Loader
Today, with the continuous evolution of their equipment
GEISS still follow their basic idea. "The Parametric Concept" |

Linear Drives accelerate to a speed of 120m/min only on a Geiss CNC trimming Machine.

The heater profile is depicted as a graphic representation of each heater bank and the differential in value setting of each heater element is highlighted by a colour legend (0-100) This can be altered by keypad or mouse as it is a PC based system with a XP software platform. |
Digital Monitored Heating
When GEISS made the step forward with the integration of the the Siemens operating system and their own patented DMH controller it marked the joining of two major control functions into one superior operating tool. Not only can you operate and set up individual elements on the same operating system, but also compile all the forming data into one neat program package. Whether your GEISS Vacuum Forming Machine is fitted with Halogen "Flash" element or standard Quartz element there are no limitations to the number of elements that can be controlled. |

Over 80 percent of customers now select the Flash heating option when they purchase their Geiss Vacuum Forming Machine. |
Speedium Heating New !
Another heating innovation comes from Geiss AG in Germany. The Speedium halogen element, developed jointly with Philips, reportedly reduces heating time 10% to 15% relative to previous halogen heaters by emitting an additional wavelength that is absorbed by plastics. Single-station machines can now compete with multi-station machines, particularly in applications such as printed signs. Up to now, halogen heating systems were ineffective with multi-colored surfaces, which heated unevenly due to varying degrees of IR reflection by the colors.
The obvious advantages are higher flexibility in production setups. And ability to maintain quality on more complex geometry product with a reduced time cycle. |

Motorised Adjustable Windowplate Option
The Geiss Stepless Adjustable Window Plate, possible lists as one of the Geiss organizations best ideas.
This equipment replaces the need for a separate window for each forming size. Manufactured in four beryllium/Mildsteel segments the sides move independently to each other, yet still maintain a perfect seal. Quite remarkable engineering! The adjustment range from a maximum aperture is 500mm forward to back and side to side. The physical adjustment is performed by DC motors and digital encoders for axis positioning. The plates slides over a series of raised rollers pads . The Adjustable Window Plate is also temperature controlled . So change over time is further minimized. All data logic is then stored as part of the working program that is easily loaded the next time that particular product is required. |

Some recent Geiss Success Stories.............

One step ahead Option New !
New Generation Thermoplastic Composite Curv is the world’s first self- reinforced 100% polypropylene composite offering extraordinary levels of impact resistance, light weight high stiffness.
Curv® is a novel material made from Polypropylene that combines the versatility of a 100% thermoplastic with the high performance of a fibre reinforced composite. High stiffness, high tensile strength and outstanding impact resistance at low density are the remarkable properties of this material.
|
Advantages of using Curv®: |
• weight reduction • good protection performance and abrasion resistance • resistant to automotive fluids • 100% PP • less tooling cost and reduced capital equipment |
During some R&D material trials held at the GE’s Polymer Processing Development Center in Pittsfield in April this year Curv was processed very sucessfully using the latest Geiss ACF (Aesthetics Composite Forming) .Equipped with its precision High Pressure Forming Option as well a new hydraulic locking feature . The end result was a enhancement in high definition quality of products being formed. And yet again provide another new niche area for Geiss customers to explore. |
Because Curv is 100% thermoplastic it may be readily converted into parts by thermoforming. Best results are achieved using matched tooling at pressures from 5 bars upwards depending on the complexity of the part.
Curv sheets can be heated to depending on the complexity of the part being produced.
Pressure forming gives the highest definition and because Curv’s self reinforcing fibres are partially extensible, unlike glass or other common reinforcements, even fibre distribution is achieved with minimal thinning in high draw areas.
Cycle times of less than 60 seconds are acheivable
